Last sunday, while attending the afternoon Mass in Megamall, there was a 4-5 year old kid sitting in front of us who has a bag of toys with him and endlessly playing with them in front of Benedict. Yung tipong nang-iinggit pa and he won’t even let Benedict play with him. I don’t bring toy lalo na at magsisimba kami kasi i want Benedict to hear the prayers and songs and learn them, see what people do and how they behave inside the church. Although we can’t really expect a 2 year old kid to be so behave while hearing the Mass.
Naawa kami kay Benedict kasi he want to play or even touch those robots kaso di marunong magshare yung bata. OK lang nman kung di nya pahiramin si Benedict pero sana wag na lang nya inggitin. He was really trying to get Benedict’s attention kahit na inilalayo na namin sya. Then I thought of talking to the kid and binulungan ko sya na “alam mo baka maging sad si Jesus kasi di ka nagpi-pray at naglalaro ka lang sa loob ng church”. Then he turned his back on me (for a couple of minutes). After a while, iniinggit na nman nya si Benedict ng ibang toy nman. Grrrrr talaga!
Then we head straight to Toy Kingdom and buy Benedict his choice of toy, he settled for a battery operated helicopter. hahaha
We don’t intend to buy him a toy that day. But i think Benedict deserve a reward for not whining over that kid’s toys. He deserve to be rewarded kasi he behaved like he can understand the situation and for acting like he is older and more matured sa bata na di nagpahiram sa kanya ng laruan.
But just the same, i would want him not to play (as much as possible) everytime we attend the Mass.
Let us teach our child/children how to share. And let it begin with us parents. Let us be the role models.
We love you so much Benedict! I hope and pray that we be able to teach you all the good values that you will be needing as you grow to face all of life’s challenges.
